A few reminders...

Hello Everyone!
Hope you guys are well-rested, well-prepared, and excited for our upcoming BMUN conference!!

DEADLINE REMINDER: Your position papers are due this Sunday, February 3rd. I have received quite a few emails over the past few weeks, so I am posting on here to make a committee-wide announcement to clarify any confusion regarding the content of your papers.
  • Firstly, I would like to see you develop your own opinions regarding the two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Although the topic synopsis itself indicates a lack of feasibility for the two-state solution in modern-day politics, this does not mean that it is not viable within our committee. In fact, I will be expecting this topic to be debated upon during conference. The two-state solution is both complex and controversial -- even if the two-state solution is implemented, will this fully resolve the ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians? Where are the borders, exactly? How will this impact Temple Mount and the religious complexities of this issue? There's a lot to think about! One simple resolution is easier said than done, but I am looking forward to how each of you will expertly approach this topic. When developing your resolutions, you may also think "one-state, two-state, or something in between?"
  • Regarding topic #1, resolutions should be focused on empowering Muslim women in the Arab world. This can include a variety of fields such as increasing education for women, opening the workforce to women, addressing the role of Islam, and so on. I purposely left the phrase "empowerment of Muslim women" more open so that you can have more freedom when drafting resolutions, though I fully expect you to address specific examples from the topic synopsis such as Saudi Arabia's Women2Drive Movement or decreasing female employment. In terms of involving the UN, specific resolutions and actions that address the lack of Muslim women rights' have already taken place within the United Nations. The UN/OIC/GCC should be involved, and I expect you to cover this in your research and position paper.
POSITION PAPER REMINDERS: There have been a few new changes to the format of your position papers this year!

Please make sure that your position paper is:
